Mr. U.K. Sinha served as the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) from 2011 to 2017, a record period of six years. Prior to this, he was the Chairman and Managing Director of UTI Asset Management Company Ltd. and also chaired the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) from 2005 to 2011. He has held key positions in the Ministry of Finance as Joint Secretary and has been a member of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS, Bihar cadre). During his tenure at SEBI, Mr. Sinha spearheaded significant regulatory reforms in areas such as Foreign Portfolio Investments, the Asset Management Industry, and Trading and Settlement Systems, among others. His contributions have been widely recognized, earning him several awards and commendations for his efforts in strengthening India's financial regulatory framework. From 2023, he has also served as an Independent Director of Adani Group owned TV channel NDTV for a period of two years. He was also designated as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the channel.
