CRG Celebrates Mr Debasish Panda’s New Role

We are thrilled to recognize that Mr Debasish Panda, Member of the Board of Advisors of the Centre for Regulatory Governance (CRG) at JGLS has been appointed as the part-time Chairman of Bandhan Bank.

The Reserve Bank of India has made the announcement about Mr Panda, stating that he will be the Chairman of one of India’s leading private sector banks, for a period of three years from the date of taking charge.

Mr Panda, Former Chairman, Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), graces the Board of Advisors of CRG , along with Mr UK Sinha, Former Chairman, Securities and Exchange Board of India and Dr MS Sahoo, Former Chairperson, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India. Under his leadership, CRG has already released the first report titled “Regulatory Governance: The Scope” on April 24th in the presence of Ms Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairperson and CEO, Salesforce, South Asia, and former Chairman, State Bank of India and Professor (Dr) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor, O.P. Jindal Global University.

As we expand some hugely innovative developments at CRG, the highly deserved recognition of Mr Panda in his new position means a lot to us. We look forward to his guidance in our work in the regulatory sphere in India where so many developments are taking place at a rapid pace.

A brief profile of Mr Debasish Panda

Mr Debasish Panda is a distinguished Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of 1987 batch (Uttar Pradesh cadre) renowned for his transformative leadership, pioneering reforms, and steadfast commitment to public service. Hailing from Odisha, with academic excellence in Physics, Environmental Sciences, and Development Management, he has leveraged his vast administrative experience across sectors like finance, health, commerce, home affairs, urban and rural development to drive transformational change at both State and National levels. Over a career spanning more than three decades, Mr. Panda has consistently championed innovation, ease of doing business, technological integration, and people-centric governance, leaving an indelible mark across every institution he led.
